Essentials: Brick City Bangers

Winter is here. It’s Brick City in the NYC and all across the US of A. Warm up your cold blood with some fresh tracks from veteran MC’s. Or bump these jams with the windows down and let the wicked wind run through your hair. To each their own.

What a squad of New York City heavy-hitters.  Juelz Santana adds to his new wave of quality music with the help of some serious firepower, joined by legends Jadakiss, Method Man, Redman, and Busta. Anyone still complaining that mumble-rap is all there is out right now needs to open up their eyes and ears; this one’s fire.

“Black Is GOLD” – Wale

I’ve been a big fan of the wave of freestyles / written’s coming over classic beats from other artists. Black Is Gold shows off Wale’s depth as an MC, dipping into the heart and soul of blackness to bring light in a dark time. D’Angelo killed this instrumental, the original track titled “Lady” and Wale adds his own touch to bring new life and new energy to the tune.

“By Design” ft Andre Benjamin (3000) – Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi had a rough 2016, but as adversity fuels the fire of creativity, his new LP “Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'” has not disappointed. “By Design” is cooler than cool, with Andre 3Stacks adding so much swag in so little bars. March on towards a bright 2017 of growth with this fun jam.

“Madlib and MF Doom” – Avalanche

The boys are back, releasing “Avalanche”  on 7” vinyl via Madlib’s label Madlib Invazion. These underground legends let their music do the talking. Press play.

“SCAR’D” – Young Buck

After being released from a brief stint locked up for violating probation, Young Buck gets aggressive with his new single “SCAR’D.” This beat and these bars are tough. Get hyped for new Young Buck bangers in 2017, you know they’re on the way.
