Abra’s Makes Magic with “Crybaby” Video

Awful Record’s darkwave dutchess Abra released her self-produced, 6-song Princess EP last week, along with visuals for “Crybaby,” the 80’s inspired single from the project. Discovered by Awful Records founder Father via her bedroom closet-curated YouTube acoustic covers, Abra is a testament to the success that young artists can achieve with the tools that the internet provides. In just two years, the Atlanta-bred Abra achieved a platform to explore her oozing creativity and musical capacities. Her latest EP rings true to her synth-heavy, dark sonic aesthetic that continues to evolve with every release.

In the video for “Crybaby,” Abra bounces to the pulsing beat, with her distinctive, layered vocals  fusing dark alt-pop with a teasingly feminine charisma. For some artists, a music video can seem like more of a standalone than an accompaniment to the audio, but ‘Crybaby’s“ video is a true extension of the track. The tasteful visuals complement the floating, shadowy sonics of “Crybaby,” showcasing her current skill and future potential.
